PACIFIC pride will shine brightly today as the region prepares to crown a new Miss Pacific Islands following an exciting Super Rugby Pacific match between the Fijian Drua and Moana Pasifika.

The atmosphere is charged with anticipation as reigning titleholder Litara Ieremia-Allen will perform the coin toss for the highly competitive match, while the seven contestants representing their nations will be present in the stands, eagerly awaiting the grand finale of the pageant later in the evening.

The contestants include Miss Tonga, Siosi’ana Patricia Taumoepeau; Miss American Samoa, Tofoi Unutoa; Miss Papua New Guinea, Iampela Popena; Miss Fiji, Ailava Samuels; Miss Samoa, Iliganoa Feagaimali’i Soti; Miss Cook Islands, Petra Mataiti; and Miss Kiribati, Atiterentaai Rinimarawa. Throughout the week, these young women have showcased their commitment to addressing significant Pacific issues, emerging as powerful voices for their communities.

The judging process commenced on Thursday, where the contestants presented their research on important topics such as youth empowerment, climate change, and drug and crime prevention at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi. This week-long event has also included cultural exchanges, stakeholder visits, traditional ceremonies, and advocacy presentations, highlighting the rich diversity and pressing issues faced in the Pacific region.

Tonight’s grand finale will feature not only the crowning of the new Miss Pacific Islands but also a competition for traditional attire and the presentation of special awards. As the contestants come together to celebrate their cultures, aspirations, and shared goals, the event promises to be a memorable showcase of Pacific unity and strength.
