Dutch speed skater Jutta Leerdam is set to compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, just months after getting engaged to YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. Leerdam, who is preparing for her second consecutive Olympic appearance, faced challenges ahead of her qualification but ultimately secured her spot in both the women’s 500m and 1,000m events.

Despite Paul suffering a defeat to Anthony Joshua in December 2025, the spotlight now turns to his fiancée, who has gained significant recognition not just for her social media presence but for her athletic prowess. Leerdam’s social media following surged from over two million during the 2022 Beijing Olympics to five million, as she aims to be recognized primarily for her accomplishments on the ice rather than her looks. “Speed skating is my number one and Instagram number two,” she stated, underscoring her commitment to her sport.

After a tense qualification round where Leerdam fell, she anxiously awaited confirmation of her Olympic eligibility. Despite the setback, she was granted entry to compete in the 1,000m event too, thanks to the Royal Dutch Speed Skating Association. “What makes me happiest is that this decision doesn’t affect any other woman in the process. So grateful that everything worked out. Milan, here we come,” she expressed on social media.

Following her qualification, Paul shared his immense pride and support, stating, “I know this is her whole life. Her whole dream. And everything she’s worked so hard for.” As Leerdam prepares for the upcoming races, which commence with the 1,000m on Monday and the 500m on February 14, both athletes hope for a memorable performance.

Leerdam’s journey emphasizes the resilience required in elite sports, reflecting a broader narrative of determination and overcoming obstacles. As she approaches the Winter Games, her focus remains sharp on her goals, and with her fiancé in her corner, the outlook is undeniably positive as they embark on this new chapter together, supporting one another through the highs and lows of their respective careers.
