John Fogerty Revisits CCR Classics on Sold-Out Legacy Tour at Fenway Park

Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) holds a revered place in the pantheon of classic rock, and their legendary status continues to resonate across generations. John Fogerty, the band’s frontman and creative force, propelled CCR to stardom in the late 1960s and early 1970s, remembered for his unforgettable performance at the Woodstock festival in 1969. Following the group’s breakup, Fogerty enjoyed a successful solo career, highlighted by the release of the acclaimed “Centerfield” in 1985.

In a recent development, Fogerty released “Legacy: The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years,” an album in which he revisits classic CCR songs, featuring contributions from family members during the recording process. His current tour, dubbed “The Legacy Tour,” showcased Fogerty’s enduring appeal during a sold-out performance at MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston, Massachusetts, on November 14, 2025.

The concert opened with CCR’s classic “Bad Moon Rising,” a track that gained renewed popularity after being featured in the horror cult film “An American Werewolf in London.” Fogerty delighted the audience with a series of hits including “Up Around the Bend,” “Green River,” “Born on the Bayou,” and “Who’ll Stop the Rain,” the latter reflecting on CCR’s Woodstock experience.

While the majority of the setlist comprised CCR anthems, Fogerty also took the opportunity to share some solo gems such as “Rock and Roll Girls,” “A Hundred and Ten in the Shade,” and the heartfelt “Joy of My Life,” which he composed for his wife. Adding a personal touch to the performance, Fogerty’s sons, Shane and Tyler, showcased their own exceptional guitar skills throughout the night, performing alongside their father.

The concert featured a lively rendition of “Lookin’ Out My Back Door,” followed by an early cut from Fogerty’s pre-CCR band, The Golliwogs, titled “Fight Fire.” The evening also included a sci-fi themed “It Came Out of the Sky,” which led into an impressive guitar solo reminiscent of Eddie Van Halen, culminating in an electrifying performance of “Keep On Chooglin.”

As the show neared its conclusion, Fogerty delivered a powerful rendition of “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” and an epic version of “Centerfield,” made even more special by the venue’s connection to the historic Fenway Park. Additional highlights included “Down on the Corner,” “The Old Man Down the Road,” and the politically-charged “Fortunate Son.”

Marking the final night of “The Legacy Tour,” Fogerty toasted the enthusiastic crowd with champagne. The concert concluded with a dynamic double encore featuring “Travelin’ Band” and CCR’s signature song “Proud Mary,” leaving fans with a sense of nostalgia and appreciation for one of rock’s most iconic legacies.

This celebration of Fogerty’s musical journey reminds us of the enduring power of classic rock, reaffirming that the spirit of CCR continues to inspire and entertain.
