Joe Buck’s Double Duty Day: From GMA Guest Anchor to MNF Play-By-Play

Joe Buck is set to have an exciting day on December 1, as he will take on dual roles in his career spanning both morning and evening broadcasts. Starting off the day, Buck will make a guest appearance as an anchor on Good Morning America (GMA), airing on ABC at 7 a.m. ET. Following his morning stint, he will head to Foxboro, Massachusetts, to serve as a play-by-play announcer for the highly anticipated Monday Night Football clash between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots. This game will feature Buck’s regular partner, Troy Aikman, along with Lisa Salters and Laura Rutledge, airing at 8 p.m. on ESPN, ESPN2, and NFL+.

Burke Magnus, ESPN’s President of Content, praised Buck for his contributions, stating, “Joe, together with Troy, Lisa, Laura, and our entire team, has elevated our Monday Night Football presentation. Joe’s impact on The Walt Disney Company goes well beyond the broadcast booth—he has been a tremendous ambassador for ESPN, and we continue to find new ways to leverage his talent across the company.”

Buck expressed his excitement about returning to GMA, saying, “The GMA team welcoming me back is easily the biggest surprise of the day. Experiencing that routine just a few times a year reminds me why sports will always be my main job. I appreciate GMA letting me be a small part of the show again—and a salute to our Monday Night Football team who are the real stars of our production holding down the fort in Foxboro.”

This isn’t Buck’s first experience juggling multiple broadcasting responsibilities in a single day; he previously did so in 2012 when he called a game between the New York Giants and the San Francisco 49ers, followed by covering the National League Championship Series featuring the St. Louis Cardinals and the San Francisco Giants, showcasing his impressive versatility and dedication to sports journalism. As Buck gears up for this demanding day, fans can expect a dynamic and engaging experience across both platforms.
