Jeff Goldblum, known for his iconic roles including his portrayal of Dr. Ian Malcolm in the Jurassic Park franchise, has made a significant lifestyle change after taking on the role of the Wizard in the upcoming film Wicked: For Good. The beloved actor recently shared that he has adopted a vegetarian diet, inspired by the film’s themes addressing animal cruelty.
During an appearance on This Morning, Goldblum expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to play such a legendary character in a film that challenges the audience to reflect on important ethical issues. At 73, the actor noted the rarity of experiencing richly rewarding roles at this stage in his career, crediting director Jon Chu for this transformative experience. “Working with Jon Chu is amazing. It’s changed me,” he stated, revealing that discussions about animal welfare during the filmmaking process led him to discontinue meat and poultry consumption.
Looking ahead to the holiday season, Goldblum hinted that he may continue to embrace vegetarian meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas, emphasizing his desire for a world that is supportive of both humans and animals. “We need the world to work for everybody on Earth and every creature, too,” he remarked.
Goldblum also praised director Chu, calling him a “master and a genius.” He noted that Wicked: For Good builds on the success of its predecessor, creating a deeper and more poignant cinematic experience. The first Wicked film was a box office sensation, earning ten Academy Award nominations and winning two for Best Costume Design and Best Production Design.
Anticipation builds as Wicked: For Good is set to grace theaters on November 21. With its strong message and Goldblum’s heartfelt commitment to animal welfare, the film not only promises to entertain but also encourages viewers to reflect on their dietary choices and the impact on the planet.
