Jeannie Mai has opened up about her challenging journey through divorce, reflecting on the pain and lessons that come with such a profound life change. The television personality, known for her roles on “The Real” and as a rapper’s partner, has expressed a heartfelt gratitude for the love she experienced during her marriage, despite its end.

Having finalized her divorce from rapper Jeezy, after two years of marriage, Mai shared her thoughts during an episode of iHeartRadio’s “Question Everything” podcast. She poignantly described divorce as “heartbreaking” and comparable to “experiencing death alive,” highlighting the emotional toll it takes. “Divorce does this inhumane thing that forces you to then protect yourself to get what you need from the divorce. It’s the worst,” she explained.

As she navigates her post-divorce life, Jeannie reflects on her young daughter, Monaco, who was just one year old when her parents separated. She feels fortunate that Monaco is too young to remember the difficult circumstances of the split. “My job is to define peace for her,” Mai stated, showing her commitment to creating a stable and loving environment for her child.

Acknowledging the complexity of emotions surrounding divorce, Jeannie mentioned that while some may embrace the experience, it doesn’t diminish the heartache. “You never wish to corrupt something that’s so planned and intended to be forever,” she said. Nonetheless, she sees divorce as a “greatest awakening,” providing a chance for personal growth and self-discovery.

Reflecting on her past, Jeannie expressed gratitude for her marriage to Jeezy and the love they shared, emphasizing that she doesn’t regret the relationship. Instead, she is focused on defining what healthy love looks like for herself moving forward. “Now I just have to… define what healthy love looks like for me. But that first starts with me,” she remarked.

When asked about the possibility of remarrying, Jeannie stated her openness to love, believing that it should never be constrained. “You can never put a container around love,” she noted, underlining her belief in the beauty of witnessing love between two people. Jeannie previously experienced marriage with Freddy Harteis from 2007 to 2018 and emphasized her willingness to embrace love anew.

Through this journey, Jeannie Mai illustrates resilience and a hopeful outlook, embracing the lessons learned and fostering a vision for healthy relationships in the future. Her perspective can inspire others facing similar challenges, as she shows that even through heartbreak, love’s potential remains boundless.
