GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Gators running back Jadan Baugh has announced his return for the junior season after signing a new NIL deal with Florida Victorious. Baugh made history by becoming the first Gator in a decade to surpass 1,000 rushing yards in a season, achieving the milestone earlier in the year.
In an impressive season, Baugh recorded a career-high of 38 rushing attempts for 266 yards against Florida State, setting the record for the most rushing yards by a Gator against FSU, and ranking as the second-highest total in the school’s history, just behind Emmitt Smith’s remarkable 316 yards achieved in 1989.
As a true freshman in 2024, Baugh led the team in both carries and rushing yards. During his second season, he started all 12 games, amassing 220 carries for a total of 1,170 yards, contributing eight rushing touchdowns and 33 receptions for another 210 yards. This achievement positioned him among the elite group of ten running backs in Gators history to notch over 1,000 rushing yards in a season, standing alongside legends such as Emmitt Smith and Fred Taylor.
Baugh’s impressive 1,170 rushing yards ranks seventh in the all-time records at UF and marks the highest total for a Gator since Ciatrick Fason’s 1,267 yards in 2004. In the 2024 season, he continued to shine, leading UF in rushing yards (673) and total touchdowns (8), while tying for the most rushing touchdowns (7) on the team.
UF interim coach Billy Gonzales praised Baugh’s talents, describing him as a “workhorse” with exceptional skills, speed, and agility. He highlighted Baugh’s versatility, noting his ability to effectively handle one-on-one situations against linebackers and his knack for making significant plays both as a runner and receiver.
Baugh’s achievements and continued commitment to the Gators not only inspire hope for the upcoming season but also fortify the team’s aspirations as they aim for greater heights in college football. His determination and skill set are sure to be pivotal for Florida’s success moving forward.
