The Indonesian Embassy in Fiji, in collaboration with the Fiji Arts Council, organized an engaging cultural reception aimed at promoting the upcoming Indonesia-Pacific Cultural Synergy (IPACs) 2025 event, scheduled to take place in Indonesia later this month. The event attracted ministers, artists, and cultural enthusiasts from across the Pacific, highlighting the importance of cultural exchange and collaboration in the region.
Indonesian Ambassador to Fiji, Dupito Simamora, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Fiji Arts Council’s long-standing partnership and underscored the significance of this event in strengthening cross-cultural connections. “Our gathering this evening provides a special opportunity to share and celebrate our rich culture, traditions, friendship, and growing collaboration,” stated Simamora.
IPACs is poised to be a landmark event, uniting representatives from 16 countries and territories across the Pacific, as well as Timor-Leste. Ambassador Simamora reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to serving as a dialogue partner for the Pacific, emphasizing the importance of knowledge sharing, technical cooperation, and fostering exchanges between the peoples of both regions.
In anticipation of IPACs, two workshops focused on music, curation, and traditional weaving are currently being held, co-organized by the Indonesian Embassy and the Fiji Arts Council. Participants from these workshops will have the exciting chance to travel to Jakarta and attend the event, further enriching cultural and professional connections.
Fiji’s Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Ifereimi Vasu, who is set to lead Fiji’s delegation at IPACs, highlighted the essential role of cultural diplomacy in fostering mutual understanding. He remarked, “Our partnership with the Republic of Indonesia continues to grow through mutual respect and shared experiences that enrich both our nations.”
The upcoming Indonesia-Pacific Cultural Synergy 2025 is viewed as a critical opportunity to enhance cultural ties, encourage collaboration among partner nations, and celebrate shared traditions and values between Indonesia and its Pacific neighbors. Initiatives like cultural exchanges and cooperative programs exemplify the strength of bilateral relationships and nurture goodwill and hope for future collaborations in addressing common regional challenges.
As Indonesia and Fiji deepen their collaboration rooted in a shared history rich with significant milestones, the prospect for a more robust partnership appears promising. Leaders from both nations are dedicated to advancing initiatives that benefit their communities, paving the way for a resilient and unified Pacific community.
