Indiana’s volleyball team is experiencing a remarkable postseason run, achieving their deepest advancement in the NCAA tournament history by reaching the Sweet 16 for only the second time, the previous occurrence being in 2010. This year, the Hoosiers boast an impressive record of 25 wins and 7 losses, marking the most victories in the program’s history.
The team is set to face the top-seeded Texas Longhorns in a pivotal matchup on Friday at noon. This game is particularly noteworthy as it features two native Hoosiers making waves in Texas. Libero Emma Halter, hailing from Roncalli High School, is completing her college career with aspirations to play professionally for the Indy Ignite. Halter has the opportunity to secure her third national championship, having been a part of Texas’ championship-winning squads in 2022 and 2023. She will have the support of former IU volleyball player Ramsey Gary from Pendleton Heights, who is also in Texas.
Additionally, the Hoosiers are bolstered by a talented freshman class and the leadership of senior players like Candela Alonso-Corcelles, the program’s winningest player, alongside her classmate Avry Tatum, both of whom have been drafted into Major League Volleyball.
This combination of seasoned experience and fresh talent positions Indiana volleyball for a thrilling postseason journey, showcasing a bright future for the program and its athletes. Fans and supporters can stay engaged with live scoring updates, stats, and highlights as the Hoosiers continue their quest in the NCAA tournament.
