IKEA has officially announced that it will be opening its first store in Oklahoma, specifically in Tulsa, in 2026. This significant development marks a landmark moment for the state, as residents have long expressed a desire for an IKEA location.
In a press release from the City of Tulsa, it was revealed that the store will be situated in the former Belk location at Tulsa Hills, occupying a 51,000 square foot space. In addition to serving as a retail outlet, this location will also function as an authorized pick-up spot for online orders, enhancing the shopping experience for customers.
Mayor Monroe Nichols expressed pride in the announcement, highlighting the collective efforts of local leaders to bring the store to Tulsa. He extended appreciation to key figures such as Erran Persley, Tulsa’s Chief Economic Development Officer, and the city council for their contributions in making the project come to fruition.
The news is part of IKEA U.S.’s broader strategy outlined in its FY25 Annual Summary, which indicates ongoing investments aimed at making the brand more accessible, affordable, and sustainable for customers across the country. Rob Olson, Interim CEO of IKEA U.S., emphasized in a statement that the company is committed to expanding its presence in the U.S. with new store formats and increased convenience for shoppers.
As Oklahoma prepares for the arrival of IKEA, the local community is filled with anticipation, looking forward to the benefits that this retail giant will bring to the area.
