With just three weeks remaining until the official start of NFL free agency, the Dallas Cowboys and the remaining 31 teams are actively strategizing for the upcoming season. A key decision for the Cowboys may occur soon as they are expected to franchise tag wide receiver George Pickens, with the announcement slated for February 17.

As the Cowboys assess their roster, they are exploring potential targets among free agents beyond their current players, including notable names such as Cleveland Browns linebacker Devin Bush and running back Javonte Williams. According to Fox Sports’ Greg Aumen, the Cowboys are eyeing Bush, who has made a significant impact with the Browns, recording 125 tackles, three interceptions—including two returned for touchdowns—two sacks, and two forced fumbles last season. Bush, a former 10th overall pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers, is projected to be a sought-after free agent, with Aumen estimating his market value at about $12 million per year.

Another player of interest is Javonte Williams, who had a one-year stint with the Cowboys and is now expected to attract attention from teams like the Arizona Cardinals. With the Cowboys’ salary cap situation, they may be looking at their fourth leading rusher in four years.

In a related update, former Cowboys offensive lineman Nate Newton, who was part of the team during its Super Bowl-winning runs in the 1990s, recently received a pardon for prior drug trafficking charges. Newton expressed gratitude for the decision, thanking former President Trump for the pardon.

The Cowboys are also making changes to their coaching staff, reportedly bringing in Demeitre Brim as an assistant defensive line coach. Brim, an alumnus of Central Florida, has a coaching background at UCF, Nebraska, and Lehigh and will be stepping into the professional realm for the first time.

On the free agency front, the Miami Dolphins have announced the release of star receiver Tyreek Hill and edge rusher Bradley Chubb as part of a series of cost-cutting maneuvers. With Hill recovering from a knee injury, he might be one of the top receivers available if he tests the market. Should the Cowboys decide to trade Pickens—though that seems unlikely—there could be mutual interest in Hill.

As teams gear up for what promises to be an intriguing free agency period, the Dallas Cowboys remain a team to watch, with potential moves that could reshape their roster for the upcoming NFL season.
