Humphrey Back, Ravens Look to Lock Down Jets in Week 12

The Baltimore Ravens are gradually overcoming their injury woes as they prepare for a crucial matchup against the New York Jets in Week 12. Following their Week 11 victory over the Cleveland Browns, the Ravens saw several injuries but are close to regaining full strength ahead of their home game.

Wide receiver Rashod Bateman and cornerback Keyon Martin are the only players ruled out for Sunday’s game against New York after missing practice all week. The rest of the roster is ready to compete, with no additional injury designations reported following Friday’s practice.

One of the key players returning is cornerback Marlon Humphrey. He missed last week’s game due to a finger procedure but is expected to bolster the Ravens’ defense as they face the Jets. Baltimore excelled defensively in his absence, delivering one of their strongest performances of the season, but with Martin sidelined, Humphrey’s return is timely as the team navigates a demanding stretch of games.

Humphrey’s early season was marked by struggles and injuries, reflected in his low grade of 46.6 from Pro Football Focus, marking the lowest performance of his career. However, he showed signs of improvement with solid outings in Weeks 8 and 9. After an interception against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10, he was limited by his injury, making his comeback against a struggling Jets’ offense particularly important.

The Jets feature one of the better rushing attacks in the league; however, their passing game has been lackluster, ranking last in the NFL with just 1,399 passing yards. Their top receiver, Garrett Wilson, will also miss the game due to injury, presenting a favorable matchup for Humphrey and the secondary. Despite a quarterback switch from Justin Fields to Tyrod Taylor, the Jets’ aerial attack remains a question mark.

This matchup will serve as an essential opportunity for Humphrey to regain his momentum before taking on the Cincinnati Bengals and their star receiver Ja’Marr Chase on Thanksgiving. A strong performance against the Jets will be crucial for both Humphrey and the Ravens as they seek to solidify their standing in the playoff race. With optimism surrounding the team’s health and preparation, fans can look forward to a promising return to M&T Bank Stadium.
