Hugh Jackman is set to charm audiences once again with his latest film, “The Sheep Detectives,” where he plays a devoted shepherd named George. The trailer showcases a whimsical storyline in which George reads murder mysteries to his flock, believing they don’t comprehend the stories. However, the sheep are indeed attentive and even engage in debates about the mysteries unfolding in each tale.

The plot takes a thrilling turn when George is found dead under suspicious circumstances, prompting the sheep to suspect a murder has occurred. With George’s demise shaking their world, they realize that their beloved shepherd is gone and that they must take matters into their own hooves to solve the crime. The local cop, Tim Derry, portrayed by Nicholas Braun, has no experience with serious cases, leading the sheep to make the bold decision to venture beyond their meadow to crack the case themselves and confront the complexities of the human world.

The ensemble voice cast includes notable talents such as Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O’Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, and Brett Goldstein, alongside human characters brought to life by Emma Thompson, Nicholas Galitzine, and Hong Chau, among others.

The charming and humorous trailer evokes a nostalgic feel reminiscent of the beloved film “Babe,” focusing on a flock of sheep navigating a small town, driven by their loyalty to the shepherd who cared for them.

Written by Craig Mazin, known for his acclaimed work on “Chernobyl” and “The Last of Us,” and directed by Kyle Balda, “The Sheep Detectives” promises to deliver both laughter and heartfelt moments. The film is set to hit theaters on May 8, 2025, and is sure to be a delightful addition to family-friendly cinema. With an engaging premise and a star-studded cast, this film could become a new favorite for audiences of all ages.
