Honda is recalling 256,603 vehicles due to a software defect that may lead to a loss of power while driving, thereby increasing the risk of an accident, as reported by federal regulators. This recall specifically impacts Honda Accord Hybrid models from the 2023 to 2025 model years, according to a notice released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on November 17.
The issue arises from a flaw in the vehicles’ internal software, which has the potential to reset unexpectedly during operation. To address this safety concern, Honda dealers will reprogram the affected software at no cost to owners.
Honda plans to notify impacted vehicle owners by mailing letters on January 5, 2026. In the meantime, owners can reach out to Honda’s customer service at 1-888-234-2138 for assistance. The recall identification number is TN2, and vehicle owners can verify if their cars are included in the recall by searching their Vehicle Identification Numbers on NHTSA.gov starting November 18.
This latest recall follows an earlier announcement from Honda this month involving over 406,000 vehicles due to a defect that could lead to the detachment of wheels. Additionally, in June, the automaker recalled more than 259,000 vehicles in the U.S. because of a potential brake pedal issue.
