The highly anticipated second season of “High Potential,” starring Kaitlin Olson, made its debut on September 16, 2025, and is set to continue with new episodes returning on January 6, 2026, after a midseason break. This season boasts an expanded lineup of 18 episodes, up from the 13 in its inaugural season, which has fans excited for more content.

“High Potential” is a dramedy adapted from the French series “Haut Potentiel Intellectuel.” It follows the story of Morgan, portrayed by Olson, a single mother working as a cleaner for the Los Angeles Police Department despite her genius-level IQ. The plot thickens as Morgan’s knack for solving crimes piques the interest of Detective Adam Karadec, played by Daniel Sunjata. As she assists in investigations, her personal challenges increasingly intersect with her professional life.

The first season concluded with gripping cliffhangers, such as the threat posed by a serial killer known as the Game Maker to Morgan’s family and the shocking return of her ex-husband, Roman, who had been missing for 15 years. In an interview with TheWrap in February 2025, showrunner Todd Harthan reassured fans that the second season would begin addressing these suspenseful conclusions without prolonging the resolutions unnecessarily. He emphasized a strategic approach to storytelling, promising to reveal significant answers while maintaining an engaging sense of mystery.

The upcoming episodes in January will feature “The One That Got Away: Part Two” on January 6, followed by “Under the Rug” on January 13. “High Potential” will air at a new time slot of 9 p.m. ET on Tuesdays, as it shifts to accommodate the conclusion of “Dancing with the Stars.” Viewers can catch episodes weekly on ABC, with streaming available on Hulu the following day, allowing audiences to revisit the entire first season in preparation for the new releases.

Furthermore, Olson has expressed a desire for the show to delve deeper into the lives of its supporting characters this season, promising not only thrilling dramatic moments but also an increase in humor and relational explorations. This commitment to character development reflects a strong dedication to enriching the storytelling experience for both existing fans and new viewers alike, positioning “High Potential” as an exciting staple in the current television landscape.
