In a recent interview with Sylvia Alvarado from KOMP 92.3 in Las Vegas, Slash, the iconic guitarist of GUNS N’ ROSES, discussed the band’s latest releases, including two new songs, “Atlas” and “Nothin’,” which debuted in December. This marked a significant moment for the band as these tracks represented their first new music since 2023’s singles “The General” and “Perhaps.” The production of these tracks was overseen by frontman Axl Rose and Caram Costanzo, who has previously collaborated with the band on “Chinese Democracy.”
During the interview, Slash expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming long tour starting at the end of March and running through December, noting it would be the band’s first opportunity to perform in the U.S. in quite some time. He mentioned, “It’s good to have a couple of songs that we’re promoting,” highlighting the excitement surrounding their return to live performances.
When asked about the format of future music releases, Slash explained that they would continue releasing standalone singles for the time being, stating, “We’re gonna take all those songs and put them on something and release that as a package.” He emphasized that their next project would consist of entirely new original material.
In reflecting on the current music landscape, he noted the complexities rock bands face today, distinct from previous eras when complete albums were the norm. Slash acknowledged that while die-hard fans appreciate the full album experience, younger audiences may not have the same understanding, presenting a unique challenge for artists.
The guitarist shared insights regarding the production of “Atlas” and “Nothin’,” illustrating the creative process involved. While “Atlas” showcases intricate chords and time signatures, “Nothin’” was recorded with a more spontaneous, minimalist approach, emphasizing improvisation.
Excitement continues to build around the band’s return to the stage, with Slash eagerly anticipating the opportunity to perform both songs live after previously rehearsing them without a release date in sight. He expressed gratitude for the chance to finally showcase the new material to fans.
“Atlas” and “Nothin’” not only represent the band’s evolving sound but also bring out two contrasting sides of GUNS N’ ROSES, with “Atlas” embodying their high-energy rock spirit while “Nothin’” leans into a more reflective tone.
Previously, the band released the four-song EP “Hard Skool” in February 2022, which included tracks originally created during the “Chinese Democracy” sessions, further illustrating their dedication to revisiting and revamping previously shelved material. Fans eagerly await any announcements regarding a full-length album, which would be the first featuring the classic lineup since 1993.
GUNS N’ ROSES are set to embark on a world tour in the spring and summer of 2026, which will see them visit Mexico and Brazil before making a triumphant return to large markets in Europe, the U.S., and Canada. This tour will be particularly noteworthy as it includes a historic performance at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles, marking a return to the venue after more than 30 years.
With a rich legacy solidified by landmark albums such as “Appetite For Destruction,” GUNS N’ ROSES continues to captivate audiences. Their enduring popularity is evidenced by their impressive streaming numbers and accolades, including their recent induction into the Grammy Hall of Fame. As they prepare to hit the road again, fans can anticipate a blend of classic hits alongside new and unreleased material, ensuring that the spirit of rock continues to thrive.
