Carl O. Dobies, aged 81, of South Greensburg, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026, at his residence. Born on June 2, 1944, in Greensburg, he was the son of the late Stanley C. and Lucy M. (Boehme) Dobies.
Carl dedicated a significant part of his life to public service as a corrections officer at the Westmoreland County Prison before retiring. He was also employed at ITE in South Greensburg. His commitment to the community was evident through his long-standing membership in the South Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department and the United Club. Additionally, he was an active member of the Donegal American Legion Riders and the Pennsylvania Spyders.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth A. (Mariani) Dobies, alongside his brother, Stanley Dobies (Linda), his brother-in-law, Antonio Mariani, and his sister-in-law, Josephine Sadler. Carl was also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Livingston and Carolyn Mariani, his brother-in-law, Ron Sadler, and his nephew, Michael Dobies. In line with his wishes, there will be no public services or visitation.
The Leo M. Bacha Funeral Home, Inc., located at 516 Stanton Street in Greensburg, is assisting with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to HEAL Animal Rescue at 216 Depot Street, Youngwood, PA 15697, to honor Carl’s love for animals.
