Georgia Tech’s football team is having an impressive season, leading the nation with an average of 496.1 yards per game and an astounding 576.7 yards over their last three outings. This Saturday, the No. 15/12 ranked Yellow Jackets host Pittsburgh at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field in a pivotal contest that could shape the future of the program.
A win for Georgia Tech (9-1, 6-1 ACC) would not only secure a spot in the 2025 ACC Championship Game, scheduled for December 6 in Charlotte, NC, but it would also mark the Yellow Jackets’ first appearance in a conference title game since 2014 and their fifth overall since the ACC introduced its championship match in 2005. Moreover, clinching this victory would ensure a tie for the best regular-season record in the ACC, a feat the Jackets haven’t achieved since 2009.
Should they triumph over Pitt, the Yellow Jackets would reach 10 regular-season victories, a milestone reached only four times in the school’s 132-year football history, with previous seasons including 1951, 1952, 1990, and 2014. Additionally, this victory could mark their ninth 10-win season, adding to a legacy that includes accomplishment in 1928, 1951, 1952, 1956, 1990, 1998, 2009, and 2014.
The Jackets’ offensive performance has been remarkable, with a national-leading average of 496.7 yards per game and 7.47 yards per play. Heisman Trophy contender QB Haynes King leads the charge, averaging an impressive 340.7 total offensive yards per game. On the defensive front, the team seeks to solidify their home advantage, allowing just 18.6 points and 356.6 yards per game at home compared to higher figures on the road.
The enthusiasm surrounding Georgia Tech football is palpable, as attendance at Bobby Dodd Stadium has risen by 29% compared to this time last year. Fans eager to be part of this momentous occasion can still purchase tickets for the final regular-season home game against Pittsburgh on November 22, which also features Senior Day, Military Appreciation Day, and a special toy drive commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Michael Isenhour Toy Drive.
In conjunction with their success on the field, Georgia Tech athletics is launching a $500 million fundraising initiative titled “Full Steam Ahead.” This ambitious program aims to enhance the athletic facilities and overall experience for athletes and supporters alike, including renovations for Bobby Dodd Stadium and other key facilities. Members of the Georgia Tech community are encouraged to learn more about the initiative and contribute to its goals.
As the Yellow Jackets continue their pursuit of glory, their thriving program fosters a renewed sense of hope and excitement across their fanbase, setting a promising tone for the future of Georgia Tech football.
