Swire Shipping Fijian Drua winger Ponipate Loganimasi described his recent visit to Vuda District School as a dream come true, allowing him to reconnect with the community and school that sparked his own rugby journey. Loganimasi, who once stood in the same position as the hopeful young boys, was deeply moved as the students welcomed him with chants of his name.

Reflecting on his path to success, Loganimasi stated, “One day I was playing in Labasa and then I saw Jerry Tuwai and Pio Tuwai. I saw them and I was like, man, one day I wanna be like them. And now that I’m at this level and hearing these kids call my name, I know I have achieved my goal.” His visit served as a powerful reminder of the positive impact rugby can have, extending beyond the pitch to inspire the next generation.

Loganimasi emphasized to the students that rugby could pave the way for a brighter future and opportunities to support their families. He encouraged them to believe in themselves, work hard, and not to be disheartened by naysayers.

Hoping to leave a meaningful impression, Loganimasi expressed his desire that his visit would inspire the students to pursue their dreams. Meanwhile, the Drua prepare for their next challenge as they get ready for Round Three of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific, facing off against the Hurricanes at 3:35 PM, with the match broadcast live on FBC Sports.

This heartfelt interaction highlights the profound role athletes like Loganimasi can play in mentoring and motivating young minds, inspiring hope and aspiration within local communities.
