A tragic sledding accident in Frisco has claimed the life of a 16-year-old girl while another remains in critical condition. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday and was reported to police by a bystander who witnessed the event near Majestic Gardens Drive and Killian Court.

Initial investigations reveal that the two girls were sledding behind a Jeep Wrangler, driven by a 16-year-old boy. Witness accounts suggest that as they were being pulled, the sled struck a curb and collided with a nearby tree. One neighbor, Melissa Trevino, expressed her shock, recalling seeing the Jeep pulling the sled moments before the emergency response arrived, noting the quick escalation to a scene filled with police cars and caution tape.

Emergency responders discovered both girls with life-threatening injuries at the scene. They received immediate medical attention before being transported to local hospitals. Unfortunately, one of the girls did not survive, while the other is currently battling for her life.

In a heartfelt social media tribute, Megan Angle identified her daughter, Elizabeth Angle, as the young girl who tragically passed away. A sophomore soccer player at Wakeland High School, Elizabeth was remembered as a vibrant and spirited individual who had recently celebrated receiving her driver’s license. Megan emphasized the ephemeral nature of life and expressed gratitude that her daughter had friends who supported her until the very end. The second victim, who remains unnamed, is described as one of Elizabeth’s closest friends.

In light of this tragedy, Angle has highlighted the importance of safety during recreational activities. A vigil in memory of Elizabeth is scheduled for later this week, allowing friends and community members to come together in support.

The principal at Wakeland High School stated that upon the return to classes, Elizabeth’s passing will be acknowledged, and counseling services will be made available to students in need. The Frisco Police Department, along with the Denton County District Attorney’s Office, is currently investigating the incident, though it remains unclear if any charges will be pressed.

This harrowing event serves as a poignant reminder of the unpredictable nature of youth and the essential need for safety during outdoor activities. The community mourns the loss and supports the families affected during this difficult time.
