Mike Friday’s 7s Select team is excited to once again experience the vibrant and raw talent of rugby in Fiji. The head coach emphasizes that even though his players are some of the best globally, the annual competition at the McDonald’s Coral Coast 7s is an event they look forward to with great anticipation.

Friday notes that the Fiji Men’s National 7s team has long been a formidable rival, and facing the unique flair of Fijian rugby is always a highlight for his squad. He highlights how the tournament serves as an eye-opener, presenting younger players eager to showcase their talents—evoking memories of the early careers of his own team members, which adds a special significance to the event.

“Competing against local and international teams is both humbling and challenging. Winning at the Coral Coast 7s is no easy feat; it’s a true test of skill and determination for players who have tasted victory worldwide,” Friday remarked, reflecting on the competitive spirit of the tournament.

Last year’s competition saw Friday’s team fall to the Fiji Babas, with a score of 29-14 in the final. This year, the Coral Coast 7s is scheduled to take place from Thursday to Saturday at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, where fans can catch the action live and exclusively on FBC Sports.

This upcoming tournament presents not just a chance for competition, but also an opportunity for camaraderie and growth, as players from different backgrounds come together to celebrate the sport.
