Free AI Subscriptions Redefine Access in India: Google AI Pro, ChatGPT Go, and Perplexity Pro

Reliance has announced an exciting development for Jio users—offering the Google AI Pro subscription for free for a generous 18-month period. This initiative is timed alongside OpenAI’s recent announcement that its ChatGPT Go subscription will also be available at no cost for Indian users for a year, starting November 4.

In a related move, Perplexity has collaborated with Airtel, providing its subscribers with access to the Perplexity AI Pro subscription for one year. These developments signify a substantial increase in the availability of advanced AI tools for a large segment of the population, which raises the question of how these offerings stack up against each other.

When comparing ChatGPT Go, Perplexity Pro, and Google AI Pro, it’s clear that the features of each vary significantly. ChatGPT Go, while newly introduced, does not compete on the same level as the other two subscriptions, primarily offering limited capabilities such as modest image generation and access to basic AI models.

Conversely, Google AI Pro provides robust features, including extended access to its advanced Gemini 2.5 Pro model, which boasts a one million token context window, and significantly higher image generation limits with Nano Banana. The subscription also includes video generation capabilities through the Veo 3.1 Flash model. Additionally, Google AI Pro grants users 2TB of storage across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos, alongside superior integration with Google’s suite of applications like Docs and Gmail.

According to a blog post by Google, the AI Pro plan provides 20 times the access to the Gemini 2.5 Pro compared to the free tier, as well as 50 times more access to the Deep Research tool through the same model.

Perplexity shines with its unique offering, allowing access to various AI models, including Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro, OpenAI’s GPT-5, and Anthropic’s Claude 4.5. The inclusion of certain paid features through its Pro plan for users of the Comet browser further enhances its appeal.

The emergence of these three competitive AI subscription plans marks a significant leap forward in democratizing access to advanced technology, providing users with powerful tools for creativity and productivity at no cost. As these offerings continue to evolve, users can look forward to enriched experiences that enhance their capabilities and optimize their use of AI tools.
