The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) has recently issued a public warning concerning the illegal importation of vape products into the country without the necessary permits. This warning highlights ongoing investigations into multiple cases of such violations, coinciding with a rise in online advertisements promoting the sale of vaping products across different platforms.

FRCS emphasized that commercial importation of vape products requires a valid permit granted by the Ministry of Health. Products arriving in Fiji without these permits are subject to confiscation. In a notable incident, FRCS intercepted a shipment of vape products that were not only imported without the appropriate authorization, but also falsely declared, revealing discrepancies between the stated and actual quantities.

Such actions represent serious violations under local customs and regulatory laws. The FRCS has made it clear that any attempts to smuggle vape products or to provide false or misleading information could lead to the forfeiture of the goods involved and may trigger further regulatory repercussions.

To prevent these issues, the FRCS advises individuals and businesses planning to import vape products to first consult with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services to ensure compliance with all necessary importation regulations. This initiative underscores FRCS’s dedication to enforcing strict border controls and safeguarding public health and safety. With these measures in place, the authority aims to mitigate the risks associated with unregulated vaping products entering the market.
