On February 17, the men’s 4×7.5 km relay in biathlon at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics took place at the Antholz Biathlon Centre, showcasing an intense competition.
The French team faced an early setback when first leg skier Fabien Claude made shooting errors, causing them to drop to 15th place. However, adjustments were made, and the second leg skier, Emilien Jacquelin, made a remarkable comeback. He not only navigated the ski stage well but also shot perfectly in the first round, propelling the team to first place. The third leg was handled by the star performer, Quentin Fillon Maillet, who had already secured two gold medals in these Olympics. Despite a drop to third after the second round of shooting, he leveraged his skills to reclaim the lead. The final leg was completed by Eric Perrot, who displayed exceptional shooting prowess. After a flawless first round, he overcame previously dropping to third and surged ahead to finish first, crossing the line with a winning margin of 9.8 seconds.
Defending champions Norway faced their own challenges, with Martin Uldal, the first leg skier, experiencing shooting errors that required two spare rounds. Nevertheless, his robust cross-country skiing abilities allowed him to catch up and regain the lead after a perfect shooting performance in the second round. Second leg skier John-Olav Lægreid opened with a miss, falling from first to ninth place but managed to climb back to fourth. Despite efforts from third leg skier Sturla Holm Lægreid and fourth leg skier Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen, who briefly held the lead, the team was unable to seal the defense of their title, ultimately finishing with a silver medal.
Sweden secured the bronze medal after remaining competitive throughout the race. Despite being in contention, errors during the final leg caused them to lose valuable time, resulting in a finishing time of 1:20:52.7.
