As of December 2025, there is currently no approved fourth federal stimulus check for Americans, despite ongoing discussions and speculation. Former President Donald Trump has brought forth a proposal for new payments, termed a “tariff dividend” that would potentially provide $2,000 to lower- and middle-income citizens, funded through tariff revenue. However, this initiative has yet to gain the approval of Congress and remains unimplemented.

The previous rounds of stimulus checks, issued during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, provided financial support to countless families, with payments reaching up to $1,400 per individual. These Economic Impact Payments were critical in helping Americans cope with job losses and economic challenges during that period. Some citizens are still receiving payments from the previous Recovery Rebate Credit associated with the third round of COVID-19 relief, though these funds are not part of any new stimulus initiative.

The IRS is processing payments for individuals who were deemed eligible in 2021 but did not receive the full amount or failed to file a claim. It’s important for recipients to verify the legitimacy of any payments, as misinformation regarding new stimulus checks is circulating, particularly on social media. The IRS has strongly advised individuals to be cautious of scams claiming to issue payments.

In Arizona, while there is no newer federal stimulus check, the state has rolled out tax rebates for its residents. The Arizona Families Tax Rebate, based on prior tax filings, allows individuals to claim up to $250 per dependent under age 17 and $100 for dependents aged 17 or older, with a maximum rebate of $750 per household. Additionally, a one-time senior tax rebate is available for residents aged 65 and older who meet specific tax criteria.

As citizens look ahead, the prospect of future federal stimulus checks remains uncertain, emphasizing the importance of staying informed and cautious against scams in the current financial landscape.
