The High Court in Suva has denied Apisai Madigibuli’s fourth request for bail, highlighting the challenges he faces in being released unless there is a notable change in circumstances. Justice Dane Tuiqereqere reached this conclusion while stressing the severity of the charges against Mr. Madigibuli, who stands accused of the brutal murder of his pregnant wife, Kitiana Baravilala, on April 25 of the previous year.
In his latest plea for bail, Mr. Madigibuli raised concerns regarding potential health risks related to his time in custody, specifically citing fears of contracting HIV and other diseases due to shared shaving blades and pollutants from nearby factories. However, Justice Tuiqereqere determined that Mr. Madigibuli failed to provide adequate evidence to substantiate these health concerns, resulting in the court’s refusal to grant bail.
As a result, Mr. Madigibuli will remain in custody until the case is adjourned again on December 23. This decision reflects the gravity of the circumstances surrounding the allegations and the court’s dedication to ensuring that justice is served. The legal proceedings will continue to focus on protecting the rights and safety of all parties involved, emphasizing the judicial system’s commitment to addressing such serious charges with the utmost care and diligence.
