Former Minister of Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, is set to undergo a hearing next month as he addresses legal charges concerning statutory disclosure violations. The case was presented today before Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo Bull at the High Court in Suva.

Professor Prasad faces charges for failing to comply with statutory disclosure requirements related to an incident from 2015. He is also accused of providing false information in a statutory declaration, notably regarding a failure to disclose his directorship.

Justice Bull is currently overseeing the application for a permanent stay made by Professor Prasad, who is represented by Senior Lawyer Richard Naidu from Munro Leys. The proceedings have been postponed, and the next hearing is scheduled for January 15.

This legal matter emphasizes the intense scrutiny that public officials are under to comply with disclosure laws, reinforcing the critical need for transparency in governance. As the situation unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the accountability expected from those in positions of power.
