BA, FIJI – Litia Moce, a 24-year-old primary school teacher at St Teresa’s Catholic School in Ba, is on a significant journey toward fulfilling a promise she made to her mother when she was just a child. After losing her father at nine months old, Moce was raised by her widowed mother. Despite the challenges, Moce vowed to create a better future for both of them, a commitment that has shaped her educational and career aspirations.

Having spent three years in the teaching profession, Moce is now advancing her qualifications by enrolling in the Bachelor of Education (Primary) programme at the Fiji National University (FNU) during their 2026 Roadshow in Ba. Her mother, who currently teaches at Balevuto Public School, has been a source of inspiration for Moce, reinforcing her dedication to education and exemplifying the importance of community service.

“My mother’s tireless work as a teacher and her strong faith inspired me to follow a similar path,” Moce reflected. While her initial ambition was to become a veterinarian, she now feels a strong calling to the classroom, stating, “I am blessed to be in this field because I love children and I love teaching.” Looking ahead, Moce aspires to become a lecturer at FNU, furthering her impact on the educational landscape.

In another inspiring story, 17-year-old Ansh Kumar is determined to honor the legacy of his late parents, who continually encouraged him to pursue greatness. After losing both parents at a young age, Kumar received his Offer Letter for a Diploma in Agriculture (Level 5) from FNU’s College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (CAFF). “I believe agriculture is the backbone of the nation, addressing food security and climate change,” Kumar stated, highlighting his passion for working with the Biosecurity Authority of Fiji to protect the agricultural sector.

The ongoing FNU 2026 Roadshow is actively engaging with communities across Rakiraki, Tavua, Lautoka, Nadi, Sigatoka, Navua, Nausori, Labasa, Taveuni, and Levuka, culminating this Saturday. This outreach not only provides education opportunities but also showcases the resilience and ambitions of young Fijians like Moce and Kumar, who are shaping the future for themselves and their communities. Their stories of perseverance resonate with the hope and determination found in Fiji’s youth.
