Fiji National University (FNU) has addressed and dismissed allegations that its Council Chairman, Semesa Karavaki, was barred from entering his office. In an official statement, the university made it clear that there are no restrictions on access for Council members or senior management across any of its 17 campuses.

FNU emphasized that both Council members and management have complete and unrestricted access to all facilities, which is critical for them to fulfill their official duties. This clarification comes amid a backdrop of increased security personnel being deployed on campus, a response to a recent rise in theft and other security concerns. The university reassured the public that these security enhancements are precautionary measures aimed at safeguarding students, staff, visitors, and university property.

Despite the increased security presence, FNU confirmed that such measures do not impede the access of Council members and senior management. The university reiterated, “All authorized personnel, including Council members and senior management, continue to have full access to all FNU campuses in the normal course of their duties.”

Further, FNU remains devoted to creating a safe and supportive learning environment while enhancing its governance practices. The university highlighted its commitment to transparency and effective governance, prioritizing the safety and well-being of its university community. This proactive approach reflects FNU’s ongoing efforts to foster a secure and constructive educational atmosphere.
