Tevita Rokovereni was celebrated as the Male Referee of the Year during the Fiji Rugby Referees Awards held at the Vodafone Arena in Suva last night. The Tailevu native has made notable advancements on the international rugby stage, highlighting his skill and dedication to the sport.

This year marked a significant milestone in Rokovereni’s career when he officiated the men’s cup final at the Vancouver 7s, where Argentina took on South Africa. His accomplishment is particularly remarkable as he became the first Fijian referee to preside over a cup final in the World Rugby Sevens Series since James Bolabiu in 2009 at the Hong Kong 7s.

Rokovereni’s journey in rugby officiating commenced with his international debut at the Pacific Mini Games in 2013. Since that initial step, he has rapidly advanced his career, refereeing various matches in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series. His recent honors not only highlight his growing prominence in the sport but also serve as an inspiration to many aspiring referees in Fiji and beyond. Such recognition not only celebrates individual excellence but also uplifts the entire rugby community in Fiji.
