Ashwant Rishabh Maharaj is enthusiastically preparing to finish his high school career on a high note as he approaches his second Coca-Cola Games. The talented sprinter, who specializes in the 100 and 200 meters, previously showcased his skills at the prestigious Fiji Finals in 2022 while representing Dilkusha Methodist High School as a freshman.
Since that initial appearance, Maharaj has qualified for every Triple N zone but has encountered challenges in matching the success he experienced in Year Nine. Now, at 18, he is fully dedicated to balancing his academic duties and his passion for football, aiming to leave a lasting impression in his final year.
“I’m working really hard this year. I started training last year, and I’m giving my best to compete at the Coca-Cola Games since this is my final year,” Maharaj shared. He is set to compete in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and the 4×100 meters relay at the upcoming Triple N zone, following a notable performance in his school’s interhouse competition.
Maharaj expressed his deep gratitude to his supporters who’ve played an integral role in his journey, particularly those who assisted him in his preparation for the recent interhouse event. “Today was really good. We all fought hard for our respective houses, and I want to thank the school management and our teachers for training us well,” he noted.
As he looks ahead to the Triple N zone, the determined athlete is committed to giving his utmost in training, ensuring he leaves nothing to chance as he strives for what could be a remarkable, final appearance at the Coca-Cola Games before graduation. Maharaj’s dedication and ambition not only underscore his personal goals but also serve as an inspiration to his peers and the broader community as he prepares to make a mark in this significant season of his athletic career.
