The Fiji Roads Authority has announced the immediate temporary closure of Qawa Crossing, also known as Baubale Crossing, in Bulileka, Labasa. This closure is effective until further notice, prompting motorists to adjust their travel plans accordingly. Warning and advisory signs have been strategically placed to inform drivers of the current situation.
In order to minimize disruption, FRA crews are working diligently to build a temporary bypass downstream from the existing crossing, ensuring that public access can be maintained. This bypass is expected to be completed by midday tomorrow, December 2, 2025.
The Authority has expressed its appreciation to road users for their patience and understanding during this critical upgrade period. They highlighted that these improvements are essential for future infrastructure development, as the ongoing work aims to enhance both road safety and accessibility. This commitment to maintaining high standards is a positive step forward for the community’s transportation needs, promising a safer and more efficient travel experience for all.
