Oceania Education and Technology Solutions (OETS) is making strides to combat graduate unemployment by prioritizing job readiness over mere promises at the launch of its three subsidiaries at Challenge Plaza in Nadi. Group CEO and Managing Director Hasmukh Lal emphasized the institution’s commitment to providing education that aligns with real industry needs, ensuring that students are equipped for immediate employment.

Lal highlighted the importance of strong partnerships with industry leaders to facilitate seamless transitions into the workforce. OETS has established collaborations with Telecom Fiji Ltd, Datec Fiji Ltd, and Empower Pacific, which will help tailor training programs to meet existing labor demands and enable students to make meaningful contributions to the economy right after graduation.

As part of these partnerships, Telecom Fiji Ltd will support the Diploma of Telecommunications and Network Engineering, while Datec Fiji Ltd will back both the Diploma of Software Development and the Diploma in Cyber Security. Empower Pacific is set to support various certificate and diploma programs in counselling. These strategic alliances create mutual benefits for education and business, fostering the development of skills crucial for Fiji’s workforce.

Additionally, the partnerships will provide students with opportunities to participate in internships prior to graduation, enhancing their employability and access to job opportunities upon completing their studies. The launch introduced three new institutions under OETS: the Oceania Institute of Technology, Pacific Study Hub, and Canterbury Language Academy, marking a significant step towards addressing the skills gap in the region’s job market.

This proactive initiative not only sets a precedence for educational institutions in Fiji but also holds the potential to inspire a future where graduates can find meaningful employment swiftly, ultimately contributing to the country’s economic growth.
