The Fiji Performing Rights Association (FIPRA) Awards are set to make a triumphant return in 2025 after a two-year break, with organizers announcing an innovative approach to better honor and showcase local composers. FIPRA Chair Isireli Gumatua unveiled a new framework aimed at celebrating the talents and contributions of those in Fiji’s vibrant music scene.

In 2025, artists who released music in the past year are invited to submit their work for consideration. Gumatua emphasized that the revival of the FIPRA MUSIC award aligns with a strategic plan reflecting renewal and growth, underscoring the commitment to recognizing composers and music creators in Fiji.

A notable addition this year is a brand-new genre category, which aims to broaden the scope of the awards and highlight diverse musical styles. FIPRA Director Laisa Vulakoro also hinted at several surprises in store for participating artists, making the upcoming ceremony even more exciting.

The deadline for applications is February 27th, with the awards ceremony scheduled for May 9th, setting the stage for a celebration of creativity and artistry in Fiji’s music industry. This renewed focus signifies a positive step towards acknowledging the hard work and passion of artists, fostering a culture of recognition in the local music landscape.
