The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) is making significant strides in preparing for the upcoming general election, with important legal timelines clearly established. Ana Mataiciwa, the Supervisor of Elections, highlighted the proactive approach the office is taking to disseminate information regarding potential writ and election dates.

Mataiciwa noted that the first possible issuance of the election writ is anticipated for June 24, 2026, which would lead to the election being held on August 7, 2026. Conversely, if the writ is issued on the last possible date—Christmas Eve of 2026—the final election date would be February 6, 2027. She emphasized that preparing for the general election is a core duty of the office and confirmed that preparations are underway.

While the electoral office has been quietly working on the logistics and processes behind the scenes, Mataiciwa assured the public that visibility in engagement and awareness initiatives would increase as the election period approaches. She encourages citizens not to worry if they have not yet seen extensive electoral campaigns, as the office is diligently laying the groundwork for a smooth election process.

The FEO’s commitment to public engagement signifies a positive direction towards facilitating an informed electorate and ensuring that voting in the next general election is a straightforward experience for all Fijians.
