As the 2026 cricket season approaches, 16-year-old Jasvil Rokoro is ready to showcase her abilities and establish herself as a significant asset for the national team of Cricket Fiji. There have been whispers suggesting that her inclusion in the national squads over the past two years is influenced by her familial ties—specifically, her father, Sitiveni Rokoro, is the chief executive officer of Cricket Fiji. However, Jasvil is determined to prove that her selection is a result of hard work and talent.
“I know there are people who talk about me getting into the national teams through ‘backdoor’ methods,” she said. “But I’m going to work hard to prove that I earned my place.”
Jasvil’s cricket journey includes an international debut representing Fiji at a tournament in Indonesia, where she played for the under-19 women’s team. Her performance secured her spot on the national women’s team for a subsequent tournament at the same venue earlier this year. More recently, she contributed to the national side that participated in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup East Asia Pacific Qualifier held in Albert Park, Suva.
