The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team faced a tough start in their Singapore 7s campaign, experiencing a 35–7 loss to Australia in their opening pool match.

Australia dominated from the outset, utilizing their speed and effective teamwork to secure a substantial 21–7 lead at halftime. Outstanding player Maddison Levi shone early, scoring two tries within the initial moments of the game. Her teammates, including Teagan Levi, Madison Ashby, Kaitlin Shave, and Faith Nathan, added to the scoreline, with Teagan converting four tries to keep the pressure on Fiji.

Fiji made a valiant effort to respond when Reapi Ulunisau crossed the try line in the ninth minute and successfully converted her own try, giving the team a brief glimmer of hope. Despite their resilience and physical play, the Fijiana struggled to sustain their offensive momentum and did not score in the second half.

Despite this setback, the Fijiana team is focused on regrouping and is determined to deliver a stronger performance in their forthcoming pool matches. They are hopeful of demonstrating their potential for improvement and making a notable impact in the tournament’s remaining fixtures. With a renewed spirit, the team aims to turn their fortunes around and regain their competitive edge as the series progresses.
