The Ministry of Education has announced that schools in the Western Division will resume classes tomorrow, March 5, 2026, except for specific institutions that are still serving as evacuation centers. Minister of Education Aseri Radrodro, in coordination with the National Disaster Risk Management Office and relevant authorities, has informed parents, guardians, and stakeholders of the schools that will remain closed, which include Nokonoko District School, Andrews Primary School, Nawaka District School, Nadi Muslim College, and Lovu Sangam School.

In contrast, schools in the Northern, Eastern, and Central Divisions will continue to operate normally, with favorable weather conditions reported across all four divisions. However, the Ministry urges parents and guardians to remain vigilant, as the region is still in the hurricane season. Changes in weather patterns could lead to rain or localized flooding, posing risks for travel.

Authorities remind parents to prevent children from crossing flooded roads, creeks, or rivers and to minimize unnecessary travel. It is also crucial for families to stay updated on official weather advisories and updates.

School leaders are encouraged to maintain communication with Management Committees, District Education Offices, and Divisional Education Offices, as the Ministry will provide ongoing weather updates. Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students, teachers, and families remains the top priority, with the Ministry closely monitoring the situation and ready to provide additional information as needed.

This proactive approach by the Ministry emphasizes the importance of safety during the hurricane season while ensuring that educational activities can resume as conditions allow.
