Fiji’s weightlifter Taniela Rainibogi is setting his sights high as he prepares for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, declaring, “I want gold this time around.” After an impressive performance that earned him a bronze medal in the men’s 96kg event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Rainibogi is fueled by the desire to elevate his standing and claim the top spot on the podium.

The athlete expressed optimism about his training, stating, “Preparations have been going well; we have been training throughout December last year. That shows the focus I’m in and the aim to achieve my goal.” Despite facing setbacks, including injuries that necessitated breaks in his training, Rainibogi remains dedicated and committed to enhancing his performance.
