Fiji is making notable progress in strengthening its healthcare system with the launch of the Primary Health Care Roadmap and Essential Service Package Workshop. This initiative brought together leaders from different sectors within the Ministry of Health, aiming to transform healthcare policy into actionable steps that deliver integrated, high-quality health services to every community throughout the country.
During the workshop, Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Luisa Cikamatana articulated a bold vision for Primary Health Care, highlighting its crucial role as the foundation for achieving universal and equitable health access. She, along with other officials, emphasized the urgent need to transition from mere planning to active implementation. “A roadmap without action is just a map,” she remarked, underlining the importance of tangible steps forward.
The workshop concluded with the successful finalization of a practical Primary Health Care Roadmap and the establishment of a core Essential Service Package. This framework sets the stage for collaborative efforts among various government departments, reinforcing the commitment to making strong primary healthcare a fundamental right for all citizens in Fiji.
This proactive strategy reflects a positive outlook toward creating a more inclusive and accessible healthcare system, ensuring that every Fijian can access the essential health services they need. By prioritizing primary healthcare, Fiji is paving the way for improved health outcomes and overall well-being for its people.
