The Fiji Sports Council U20 team launched their tournament campaign with an impressive 15-0 victory over the Deveta Brothers at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Senior player Lodoviko Tuva expressed the team’s appreciation for such a strong start, noting that their successful execution of the pre-game strategy was key to their win.

“We thank the Lord for the victory; this was what we had talked about before the game, and we’re happy to have executed our game plan well to get this important win,” Tuva remarked.

While thrilled with the performance, Tuva also highlighted areas needing improvement, particularly in support play and defensive organization during critical moments. “Support play was not on point in that game, and we need to work on that, as well as our communication to strengthen our defensive lines,” he explained.

The motivation to succeed extends beyond personal achievement, as Tuva underscored the importance of honoring their sponsors who have supported them. “This has been our plan to try and win this tournament as a way to show our appreciation to our sponsors, Fiji Sports Council,” he stated.

With the festive season approaching, he mentioned that winning the tournament would also allow them to share the prize money and support their families during Christmas. Under the mentorship of former national representative Isireli Bobo, the FSC U20 team is focused on making a significant impact throughout the competition, embodying hope and determination as they pursue their goals.
