Fiji is set to welcome United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau for an official visit from February 27 to March 1, 2026. This visit presents a significant opportunity for Fiji to enhance its collaboration with the U.S. through discussions aimed at deepening their partnership.

During his time in Fiji, Deputy Secretary Landau will engage in a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and other senior government representatives. The agenda will focus on strengthening strategic partnerships that support Fiji’s national development and bolster regional solidarity.

A highlight of the visit will be the signing of the Compact Development Funding Agreement between the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the Government of Fiji. This grant is aimed at stimulating private sector-led growth while expanding opportunities for trade, investment, and economic development within the region.

Landau’s mission also includes visits to Hawaii, Tonga, and Samoa, reflecting the U.S. commitment to reinforcing ties with Pacific nations. His visit follows the recent Pacific Agenda: Investment, Security, and Shared Prosperity Summit, which took place at the East-West Centre in Honolulu.

This engagement marks a pivotal moment for Fiji as it seeks to navigate and shape its role in the evolving geopolitical landscape while fostering sustainable growth and prosperity in collaboration with international partners.
