Fiji storms into HSBC SVNS Cape Town 7s semi-finals after commanding win over New Zealand

The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team has made an impressive leap into the semi-finals of the HSBC SVNS Cape Town 7s, asserting their dominance with a decisive 35-5 victory over New Zealand earlier today.

Fiji showcased their skill and teamwork in the first half, scoring three tries without answer. Vuiviwa Naduvalo stood out by crossing the try line twice, with Pilipo Bukayaro adding another, establishing a significant 21-0 advantage at halftime. Although a yellow card issued to Ilikimi Vunaki briefly disrupted their momentum, New Zealand managed to score through Jayden Keelan. However, Fiji quickly regained control, with Terio Veilawa contributing two late tries to solidify their triumph.

Prior to their success against New Zealand, Fiji faced a setback against South Africa, losing 24-21, but rebounded to edge out Great Britain with a narrow 21-17 win in pool play. Looking ahead, Fiji will take on Argentina at 10:44 PM, while the other semi-final match pits France against South Africa. The much-anticipated final is scheduled to commence at 2:43 AM tomorrow.

Fiji’s strong performance has sparked excitement among fans as they aim for another championship title, building on their storied legacy in rugby sevens.
