The Fiji Sports Council Board has announced plans to appoint an independent investigator to address new allegations against the Council. During a special meeting held on February 17, with six members in attendance, Chair Peniasi Sokia confirmed that the board’s primary focus was to thoroughly review the allegations along with accompanying documentation and deliberate on the appropriate course of action.
Sokia noted that the board members unanimously resolved to pursue this investigation in light of the serious nature of the claims. They are currently in discussions with professional auditors and investigators to determine their availability for conducting a comprehensive inquiry as soon as possible.
While Sokia acknowledged the gravity of the situation, he stated that further comments would be withheld until an investigator is appointed. The decision to engage independent professionals underscores the board’s commitment to transparency and accountability during this challenging period.
