The Fiji Airways Men’s 7s rugby team is poised to maintain its dominant position at the top of the HSBC SVNS Series standings as they gear up for this weekend’s tournament at BC Place in Vancouver. With an impressive track record this season, finishing in the top three of every event, the pressure is on as they prepare to face tough competitors, including last year’s champions, Argentina, and New Zealand, who are keen to defend their titles.

Currently, Fiji leads the series standings, closely followed by South Africa and New Zealand, both of whom recently celebrated victories in Cape Town and Perth, and Dubai, respectively. Meanwhile, France, the reigning Olympic gold medalists, are positioned just outside the top three, tied on points with Australia. Argentina, a two-time league champion, is looking to overcome a slow start to their season and make a significant impact as the series approaches its conclusion.

In Vancouver, Fiji faces a formidable Pool B, competing against Australia, Argentina, and France. On the other hand, South Africa is set to clash with New Zealand, Spain, and Great Britain in Pool A. Santiago Alvarez from Argentina has remarked on their team’s efforts to adapt to the local weather conditions to maximize their performance.

The Vancouver 7s tournament will take place over Sunday and Monday, with all Fiji 7s and Fijiana matches broadcast live on FBC TV. The Fiji Airways Men’s 7s will begin their campaign on Sunday against France at 7:19 AM, followed by a match against Argentina at 11:07 AM, and wrapping up their pool games against Australia at 2:56 PM. Simultaneously, the Fijiana team is also set to compete, starting with a match against Australia at 9:31 AM, followed by the USA at 12:57 PM, and finishing their pool stage against Canada at 4:46 PM.

As the tournament unfolds, there is considerable excitement surrounding Fiji’s performances, with hopes that the team will continue their strong momentum and strive for further success in the series.
