A delegation from the Fijian Government, led by Minister for Housing and Local Government Maciu Nalumisa, is currently in Singapore to gain insights into the country’s sophisticated integrated solid waste management systems and circular economy strategies. The purpose of this trip is to deepen Fiji’s knowledge of modern waste management practices, which encompass planning, regulation, monitoring, and reporting.
Fijian officials are particularly focused on understanding how data is leveraged to enhance both environmental protection and public health. The information and strategies acquired from Singapore’s successful waste management initiatives are anticipated to play a crucial role in reforming Fiji’s policies, aligning them more closely with the nation’s sustainable development goals.
