The Fiji Rugby Football Union (FRFU) is embarking on an important new phase in its planning following a recent General Assembly held at the Tokatoka Island Resort in Nadi. Acting CEO Koli Sewabu described the assembly as a significant milestone for the new board as they reflect on the current year and chart a clear direction for the future.
Sewabu expressed gratitude for the support received from member unions during this first year of the board’s governance and administration. He emphasized the importance of the assembly, which focused on evaluating the year’s performance, acknowledging challenges faced, and strategizing for upcoming initiatives.
The discussions included reviewing the highlights and hurdles from the past year, particularly concerning domestic funding, while also setting the stage for 2026 and beyond. A proposed calendar for future activities has been aligned with high-performance targets and is anticipated to be confirmed, indicating a promising direction for Fiji Rugby in the coming years.
The union is actively finalizing key development areas that encompass participation pathways, training, education, governance, and administration, alongside a dedicated women’s rugby strategy. Despite addressing past challenges, Sewabu underscored the board’s primary aim of cultivating solutions that will lead to a stronger rugby framework for 2026 and beyond.
This initiative not only reflects the board’s commitment to enhancing the sport in Fiji but also signals a hopeful outlook for its growth and development in the years ahead.
