The Fiji Rugby Union has announced the appointment of Pita Tutuvula Waqanivalu as its new Chief Financial Officer, set to begin his role in February 2026. This decision aims to bolster the organization’s financial management and operational efficiency, which are essential for advancing the growth of rugby in Fiji.

Waqanivalu brings a wealth of experience, with over ten years in leadership roles within both the public and private sectors. He has earned an excellent reputation in areas such as financial management, governance, and strategic planning. His professional journey began at the Bank of the South Pacific, and he subsequently spent six and a half years at the well-known international accounting firm Ernst & Young.

His global experience spans several countries, including Jamaica, Singapore, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Nauru, Tonga, and Samoa, enriching his understanding of diverse financial practices and perspectives.

In his upcoming position, Waqanivalu will manage Fiji Rugby’s financial operations, enhance governance structures, and promote sustainable growth that will benefit rugby development at all levels throughout the nation. He expressed excitement about this opportunity, stating, “I am honored to join Fiji Rugby at such an exciting time for the sport in our nation.
