The Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) is set to commence the new year by conducting a comprehensive series of visitations to all rugby unions throughout the country, aimed at elevating operational standards across the board. FRU officials acknowledged that the current year has presented several challenges, motivating the organization to initiate a proactive approach for 2024.

In a detailed explanation, the CEO of FRU outlined an ambitious strategy that includes three phases of consultations, training, and education. This plan will see teams traveling to various unions to evaluate and enhance crucial areas such as governance, coaching, training, accreditation, and compliance with participation terms.

“We will conduct three waves of visitation, consultation, and training and education. Starting in January, a team will visit each of our unions to assess everything from governance to coaching and education,” the CEO stated. The intention is clear: to audit each union, identify shortcomings, and provide targeted improvement strategies to ensure all member unions meet established standards.

Furthermore, the FRU is committed to addressing compliance issues by standardizing governance procedures, supporting coaching and player development, and implementing rigorous monitoring to ensure adherence to rules and participation terms. This initiative is expected to foster a more robust rugby environment in Fiji, promoting growth and excellence in the sport.

The proactive steps taken by the FRU signal a hopeful future for rugby unions across Fiji, with an emphasis on collaboration and support that can uplift the entire rugby community in the nation.
