Fiji Police Urged to Stay Mission-Focused During Festive Season

The Minister for Policing, Ioane Naivalurua, has called on police officers to maintain their focus and vigilance during the festive season. Addressing officers at a Thanksgiving Church Service held at the Centenary Church in Suva, Naivalurua emphasized the importance of remaining mission-focused and results-oriented.

He urged the officers to prioritize their duties, stating, “We must keep the main thing, the main thing. We cannot lose sight of the task at hand.” With the festive season underway, he highlighted that communities and families should be able to enjoy this time, while police officers step up their efforts at the frontlines.

Acknowledging the dedication exhibited by the officers throughout the year, Naivalurua reminded them to persevere despite the challenges they may face. “These are testing times, but we must continue to perform our duties and never waver,” he said.

In addition, he called for a commitment to honor women and girls by addressing prevailing social issues directly. “We need to take these matters head-on; we are a resilient organization,” he affirmed.

He concluded his remarks by wishing a safe Christmas and a prosperous New Year to all officers. The annual Thanksgiving service not only allowed police personnel to reflect on their accomplishments over the past year but also served as a moment to renew their dedication to protecting the community and strengthening their faith within a supportive atmosphere of gratitude.

This proactive approach as officers prepare for the holiday season fosters a sense of security and community spirit, reinforcing the vital role the police play in enhancing public safety.
